The Sights
Your typical Nile cruise package will include an itinerary of many of the most famous sites of antiquity, but there are many places generally not included in a Nile cruise. The reason for this is not that they are unpopular, but that they are simply too far away to be classed within the remit of the cruise. Some are available as optional excursions, such as Abu Simbel, booked via the tour guides on the boat and others such as Cairo are generally only available as either an additional twin-centre destination, an excursion via a twin-centre package or multi-centre packages. For this reason, this section has been divided into the following three categories:
Abu simbel: a must see that is not usually on a cruise's included itinerary
Here you will find excursions that are common to most Nile cruise packages such as Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple and Karnak.
These excursions are often only offered as optional additions to your cruise. These range from absolute must sees such as Abu Simbel to the market trips most tour companies arrange.
Cairo is not usually a feature of a Nile cruise, rather it is usually only available as a twin-centre destination or as a standalone destination. There are a number of options however, which are discussed here.
The mortuary temple of hatshepsut is a common excursion on a nile cruise
one of the best reasons for a trip to cairo
